Public Speaking Confidence and Mindset

Three-quarters of the population suffers from public speaking anxiety. As Jerry Seinfeld famously quipped, “According to most studies, people's number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you're better off in the casket than doing the eulogy.”

The top reason for this fear is a concern of being embarrassed or rejected - people think that if they stumble through a speech they’ll lose their credibility forever. This fear persists for people of various cultures, ages, and levels of seniority.

Of course using too many verbal crutches while walking through PowerPoint slides won’t cause irreparable reputational harm, but it’s easy for a voice in our heads to tell us otherwise.

The good news is that there’s a proven way to overcome this fear.

Our approach

Shift your mindset: Become aware of and overcome the psychological biases that cast doubt on your speaking ability; recognize that public speaking is a learnable skill, just like anything else.

Learn confidence-boosting tactics: Understand and practice proven communications techniques to appear more confident, which in turn will make you more confident.

Mitigate the unknown: Learn how to minimize and manage the unexpected - one of the top speaking concerns. We teach this through memory techniques to never lose your train of throught and frameworks to handle curveballs.
